A local dance and theatre company will be taking part in a 24 hour tap-a-thon on Saturday 1st February, to raise funds and awareness for their youth theatre group. Lindsay Kelly, who runs The Viv Kelly School of Dance and Theatre, is committed to continuous tapping from 10am on Saturday morning, until 10am the following day, with fellow teacher Chrissie Purslow.
Money raised from the 24 hour tapping session will go towards funding their upcoming youth theatre performance of ‘Me and My Girl.’
Lindsay Kelly, Director of the dance and theatre company comments, “I am incredibly proud of our inclusive school, where anyone with a love of theatre is welcome. Following the successful production of ‘Our House’ last year, we are thrilled to be putting on ‘Me and My Girl’ next month. It is a joyous and hilarious musical with some show-stopping songs, including Lambeth Walk.
“This Saturday we will be tapping away on the second floor of the Darwin Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury and we would love you to visit us and cheer us on! From 2pm until 4:30pm we will be performing, rehearsing and delivering tap workshops for anyone 8 years old or over. There will be a beginner’s session at 2pm and an intermediate session at 2:30pm.
“Any support for our tapping challenge will be gratefully received! All funds raised from the tap-a-thon will be invested in to making the show as spectacular as possible!
“We would also love to encourage people to book tickets to come and see ‘Me and My Girl’ – which will be a fantastic and enjoyable performance by our very talented group.”
To sponsor the tap-a-thon, donations can be made in person to Lindsay Kelly or on their gofundme.com page: ‘Me And My Girl’ 24 Hour Tap-a-thon.
