THE winning teams from Oswestry Rotary Club’s autumn Youth Speaks competition took part in the District 1180 competition recently.

In the Intermediate section, Moreton Hall acquitted themselves well on the topic of Anorexia with Maya Falah winning the Best Chairman but unfortunately did not progress further.

The Senior competition saw entries from a bumper number of schools and colleges with entrants divided into two sections with a team from each winning through to the next round.

The Oswestry School team spoke well on the subject “Science Fighting Dogma or Skinny Dipping in Bognor. What is Freedom?” with Valeriia Chertilina named the Best Speaker. After much debate, the judges awarded the contest to Oswestry School who will progress to the Regional Round at Frodsham at the end of the month.
