Month-Long Anniversary Events Honour a Decade of Community and Hospitality
Your Home from Home…
Offering local farm-to-table produce and modern British classics in a casual yet charming space to wine and dine, work, relax and celebrate.
The Loopy Shrew, a beloved restaurant, bar and boutique hotel in the heart of Shrewsbury, is proudly marking its 10th anniversary with a month-long calendar of celebrations. Since opening its doors on 5 November 2015, The Loopy Shrew has become a cornerstone of the town’s dining and social scene, welcoming both locals and visitors with its signature blend of quality, comfort and community spirit.
The milestone was officially commemorated with a special birthday party on 7 November, bringing together loyal patrons, friends and community members to celebrate a decade of exceptional service and warm hospitality. The event embodied the venue’s commitment to gratitude and its appreciation for the unwavering support it has received over the years.
Director of The Loopy Shrew Danielle DiTella said:
“This anniversary is more than a celebration – it’s a thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey. We’re excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for the next decade and beyond.”
A Month of Celebrations
Throughout November, guests can enjoy a curated programme of events, exclusive menus and special offers honouring the venue’s rich history and vibrant future. Guests booking a table for four or more between 3–28 November 2025 and quoting ‘a decade of Loopy’s’ will receive a complimentary bottle of bubbly.
A Family-Run Shrewsbury Favourite
The Loopy Shrew is a family-run Restaurant & Bar with Boutique Rooms, headed up by LA-born and Shropshire-bred Danielle DiTella. It sits proudly within The DiTella Group, which also includes Darwin’s Townhouse—an award-winning boutique bed and breakfast—and At Home, a collection of luxurious town-centre apartments.
Serving modern British food crafted with locally sourced produce, the venue offers craft beers, a carefully curated wine list, live music every Sunday and Loopy’s After Dark every Friday and Saturday featuring local DJs from 9pm till late.
A Name Rooted in Local Character
The name “The Loopy Shrew” playfully nods to the age-old debate over how to pronounce Shrewsbury—Shrohs-bury or Shroos-bree—while also referencing the loop of the River Severn encircling the town. Open seven days a week for breakfast, coffee, lunch and dinner, the venue offers space for more than 80 covers, alongside private dining facilities, meeting spaces, celebration areas and an outdoor terrace.
A Building with a Century of Stories
The venue has long been a vibrant part of Shrewsbury’s heritage. Once home to The Little Fruit Market at the front, it also housed the much-loved Sidoli’s Ice Cream Parlour and Bakery, which opened in the 1940s. The Sidoli family’s ice cream legacy dates back over 100 years to 1922, when founder Benedetto Sidoli arrived in Wales from Italy. Today, the fourth generation continues the tradition, producing more than 45 flavours.
Attending the anniversary celebrations, Francis Sidoli, who once lived at the property, said:
“Congratulations to The Loopy Shrew on reaching this incredible milestone! Ten years of creating a warm, welcoming space for the community is no small achievement. Your dedication to quality and hospitality has made you a true Shrewsbury favourite. Here’s to the next decade of success and memorable experiences.”
A Message of Gratitude
Danielle DiTella added:
“This anniversary isn’t just about a restaurant—it’s a celebration of continuity and community. The Loopy Shrew honours its past while embracing modern hospitality, creating a story that resonates with locals and visitors alike. Ten years ago we opened our doors with a dream and a lot of hope. Today, we celebrate a decade of unforgettable moments, laughter and a wonderful community here in Shrewsbury.”
“To our incredible suppliers, loyal customers, dedicated staff and cherished friends; to our Head Chef Carl Roberts, who has been with us since The Mytton & Mermaid days, and to our long-standing General Manager Adam Jones—thank you. You are the heartbeat of our journey. Your support has built more than a venue; it’s built a family. Here’s to the next chapter, together.”
Since its inception, The Loopy Shrew has championed local, fresh, sustainable produce and proudly welcomed suppliers such as Wenlock Edge, Salopian Brewery, Ludlow Brewery, Hallowdene Hens and Corbetts to the anniversary celebration.
Danielle said:
“We always make sure our customers feel welcome at any time of day, whether it’s a breakfast meeting, a quick coffee and cake, after-work drinks or an evening of fine wines and great food.”
