The Castle Hotel in top ten beer gardens in the UK
The Castle Hotel in Bishop’s Castle has been named in a list of top ten best beer gardens in the Guardian.
Contributor Rob Pyman wrote, “At the top of picturesque small town Bishop’s Castle is this beautiful garden once frequented by luminaries such as Ronnie Lane and friends. With stunning views overlooking south Shropshire and Wales, it’s an ideal place for families or informal meets.”
The hotel celebrated its 300th birthday in June. It is one of the oldest continually operating hotels in the country, having served customers since 1719.
Hotel owner, Henry Hunter, said, “It is fantastic to have our beautiful garden acknowledged in the national press. There is nothing more idyllic than sitting in the garden with a glass of something delicious and letting the incredible mountainous views help transport you away from the hustle and bustle of life. We hope the mention helps attracts more visitors to this wonderful part of the world.”
The 18th century coaching inn has twelve en-suite rooms, panoramic views of the Shropshire hills, an exquisite restaurant, and a fine selection of ales on offer in three bustling bars. It is also dog friendly. The hotel is recommended by The Good Hotel Guide, Alistair Sawdays and Best Loved Hotels.
The Castle Hotel is part of the Shropshire County Hotels and Inns group, which are all independently run and dedicated to providing the highest standards of quality and hospitality.
