A Telford-based manufacturer is supporting one of the area’s rising sporting talents by sponsoring a motocross rider competing at national level.
Serchem, based at Hortonwood, has announced its sponsorship of 25-year-old Rory Jones, who races in the Motul MXGB MX2 British Championship and has been riding since the age of four.
Rory has built an impressive career in the sport, currently riding under the J4M54/DMC Moto Birmingham awning. His success includes winning the AMCA Motocross Championship MX2 class in 2023 and taking the MXY2 title in the Bridgestone British Masters Championship in 2018. For 2026 he has made the big step into Professional Motocross MXGB Series.
Last year Rory broke his arm which saw him miss most of the 2025 season, but now he says he is back stronger than ever.
The sponsorship will see Serchem continue to provide a range of essential products to support Rory throughout the season, including bike cleaner, oils and workshop essentials such as blue roll and workshop gloves – helping to keep his bike performing at its best both on and off the track.
The partnership is particularly special for the Serchem team, with long-standing family ties between Rory and the company.
Alison Arnold, Commercial Director at Serchem, said: “It’s been wonderful to watch Rory grow and develop as a rider from such a young age.
“He’s been part of our lives since he was six and we’ve followed his journey every step of the way. Seeing him now competing at this professional level is incredibly rewarding and we’re proud to be able to support him.
“Motocross has always been close to our hearts as a family. My late husband Paul loved the sport, both competing himself and watching our own children Dominic and Amelia ride and of course Paul was a huge supporter of Rory, so this sponsorship feels especially meaningful.
“We’re delighted to be part of Rory’s journey and look forward to cheering him on throughout the season.”
Rory said he was hugely appreciative of the support from Serchem as he continues to compete at a high level.
“I’m really grateful to Serchem for their support this season,” he said.
“It makes a big difference having that backing behind you, especially when you’re competing at this level. Racing is an expensive sport and Serchem support goes a long way to making it possible.
“I’ve known Alison and the family for years and Paul was always incredibly supportive – he was like a second dad and he and my dad created wonderful memories together as we travelled the world riding MX. He was an amazing person and a huge influence on so many of us in motocross, so it means a lot to have Serchem involved.
“I’m looking forward to the season ahead and hopefully making them proud.”
Rory’s bike has Serchem decals on as a thank you for the support and he is also sporting the Serchem brand on his race kits.
Serchem manufactures and supplies specialist hygiene and decontamination chemistry to healthcare providers in the UK and internationally. The family-run company has built more than 40 years of expertise and continues to invest in its people, partnerships and community.
