Moreton Hall hosted the annual Shropshire Festival of Verse and Prose, welcoming record numbers of children and young adults from throughout the region.
Competitive classes included public speaking, verse reading, poetry recitals, duologues, solo drama pieces, readings from the Book of Common Prayer and sight reading.
“We had a large and very talented field of participants in this year’s Festival,” commented Shropshire Festival organiser and Head of Spoken English at Moreton, Merriel Halsall-Williams.
“The Moreton Hall girls did outstandingly well but the general level was exceptionally high across the board. It is fantastic to see so many people taking Spoken English so seriously,” she added.
The four winning students will represent the school in the National Finals of Thomas Cranmer in London on the 21st February 2019.
