A project by Shropshire construction company, S.Hayward Construction Ltd,  was featured on a new Channel 4 programme with Tinie Tempah last week called Extraordinary Extensions.

The architect on the project is Bridgnorth based company, Johnson Design Partnership.

Laura Hayward  of S.Hayward Construction Ltd said: “Johnson Design were approached by the producers and asked if they had any extensions that met their criteria for the show. The project was just outside Ludlow. Alan and Lynda had moved from Nottingham to live with Alan’s ageing father. The original farmhouse was too small for the three of them, so they wanted an extension to create more space.

The extension is a very modern looking structure, which got the nickname ‘the ski slope’. It incorporates the views of the surrounding hills and countryside and mimics the shape of the hills. It is clad in cedar which over time will fade and blend in beautifully with the countryside, it also has a living roof, which again over time will blend into its surroundings.

The year-long project highlights what is achievable; the traditional house and the modern extension sit beautifully together. Extensions don’t have to be boring box shapes.”
