A homegrown Shropshire bike brand has extended its range for children in time for Christmas gift buying.

Shyre Bikes was launched by husband-and-wife team, Kev and Michelle Williams, in 2024. They have already sold out of their first range, the Shyre Hopton, which is set to be extended with new colours and sizes for ages 4 – 13+.

They are introducing two more ranges ahead of Christmas, which means they will cater for children of all ages. Their Shyre Myndie is a balance bike with 12” wheels suitable for ages 18 months and up, and the Shyre Eastie is a mountain bike for ages 6 – 13+.

The bikes take their names from popular local bike spots – Hopton Woods, the Long Mynd, and Eastridge Woods.

As parents themselves, the couple has experienced the challenge of keeping kids active in a screen-filled world. They say for their family, biking became more than just a hobby – it became a way to stay healthy, connected, and outdoors together.

“Shyre Bikes is a local business which provides quality, durable, and affordable bikes for kids, from parents who understand what families are looking for,” said Kev Williams, co-founder of Shyre Bikes. “We’ve teamed up with a leading global manufacturer and fully comply with British safety standards, giving parents confidence in the quality and safety of our products.

“The expansion of our range is an exciting moment for our family business. To think there will be toddlers starting off on Myndies, who will eventually be riding our Hoptons and Easties through their childhood, is really special to us. The Eastie is built for kids who want to get off the pavement and on to forest tracks and off-road adventures. It has front suspension, disc brakes and proper mountain bike styling.

“Gift adventures, not more screentime this Christmas, with one of our affordable, built-to-last bikes. Our trade-up scheme makes it a sound investment too. Your child can enjoy a great bike this Christmas, and then when it’s time for the next size up, you can get up to 55% back from your original Shyre bike to put towards a new one, making it a sustainable choice.

“We’re an online business, but you can see our range and try before you buy at Velo Fit in Coleham, Shrewsbury.

“Let’s aim for more rolling and less scrolling in 2026!”
