On Sunday six Packwood pupils travelled to Stockport joining two team mates from Lucton and five from Moreton school to represent Shropshire in the U13 Northern Counties’ Lacrosse Championships. The County’s top players, usually local rivals, combined well and the team triumphed beating Cheshire 14-6, Lancashire 7-5 and Yorkshire 19-2. Claudia T (Packwood) captained the team and won the MVP award.

Packwood is a growing and vibrant boarding school, which is rightly renowned for its outstanding sports programme. Celebrating its 126th year, the school has always had a very strong sporting tradition, boasting international caps (and Gold Olympic Medals), across a range of sports, amongst its alumni.  Part of the school ethos is to offer sports every afternoon and at a level accessible to everyone.

Part of the Packwood Way, says Headmaster Robert Fox, who joined the school from Harrow, is to “do our best, to be our best”. Emphasis is placed both on good sportsmanship and on being good hosts. The renowned ‘Match Teas’ served up by former Drapers’ Hall owner Nigel Huxley certainly help. If you want a taste of school’s hospitality Mr Fox welcomes you to visit Packwood’s Open Day on Saturday 18th May.
