Families are being given the opportunity to look around Ellesmere College and chat to students and staff at a special Open Day to be held next month.

The day will see the college bustling with activity including sports academies in full swing, demonstrations showcasing creative arts, workshops and the chance to look around the college’s impressive boarding facilities.

A packed programme is organised when it opens its doors to visitors between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, 12 October, to help visitors gain an insight into life at Ellesmere and what’s going on at the school.

Headmaster Brendan Wignall said: “We always look forward to our Open Days at the college, they are always very popular. We are extremely proud to show off our wonderful school and what we are achieving at Ellesmere College.

“There is a lot to see during the afternoon, including tours of the college, the opportunity to meet the staff and students, watch demonstrations and workshops, get involved in hands-on activities and witness a variety of our other co-curricular and sporting demonstrations.

“We will also show visitors around our boarding facilities, including our new, second, girls’ Sixth Form boarding house – St Hilda’s – which opened this month, before our final event, afternoon tea in Big School Hall.

“We have an impressive sporting record at the college and our Sports Academies will be on display with teams and coaches demonstrating why Ellesmere College is able to maintain such a highly respected position in sporting achievement, up to Olympic level.

“These displays will feature our seven scholarship academies which include football, golf and swimming.”
