For many years now, Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital and Severn Hospice had enjoyed a successful partnership; and once again Nuffield Health staff, colleagues and friends have raised over £1,000 for this well deserving charity.

Earlier in the year, Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital hosted its Annual Charity Quiz Evening at The Montgomery Waters Meadow Stadium.

This year, a record breaking 26 teams battled their way through 10 rounds of questions prepared by our very own quiz master Matron, Sam Doubleday. Teams featured staff from the hospital as well as GPs, consultants, employees from various Nuffield Health Hospitals, friends and families!

Mike Haffenden, Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital Director comments: “We have worked with Severn Hospice for many years and we are delighted that this year we have broken all records and raised an amazing £1,356.08. My thanks go to the team for arranging such a fantastic event.’

Mike Perry, Community Fundraising Advisor at Severn Hospice said: “We are very grateful to Nuffield Health for this donation. Severn Hospice provides specialist care and support free of charge to families across Shropshire and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness. The care we provide is free of charge, but not without cost and every year we need to raise around £7 million: we are only able to do this thanks to the kindness and generosity of our supporters.”

Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital has been awarded a ‘Good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following inspections in September and October 2016. This rating by the independent regulator of health and social care in England for NHS and independently run facilities, makes Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital the only acute hospital in Shropshire to be currently awarded a ‘Good’ overall rating.
