New Season of Lunch-hour Concerts for 2025 starts on 7th February at Shrewsbury’s Civic church with pianist Lloyd Buck.
The new season of Concerts in the Round starts on February 7th at St. Chad’s, when pianist Lloyd Buck returns to the platform. He has appeared regularly at St Chad’s for many years, and is one of the most popular performers with his witty introductions and hugely varied programmes. February 14th will see a visit by pupils of Old Hall School, Wellington and what promises to be a most enjoyable concert, where the infectious enthusiasm of these young performers will be enjoyed by everyone.
Concert Director Richard Walker at Shrewsbury’s St Chad’s church said: “On February 21st, we have an unusual event – the Manchester-based Nova Saxophone Quartet who will make their debut recital at St Chad’s. The saxophone is one of the most versatile instruments, with its huge range both of timbre and dynamics, and we can look forward to a really exciting event. Finally for February, there will be an organ recital by Samuel Hudson, Organist of Worcester Cathedral. He is one of the best – you don’t get to be a Cathedral Organist unless you are pretty good! And the St Chad’s organ is always worth hearing”.
Details and weekly programmes for these concerts can be found on the St Chad’s Church website www.stchadschurchshrewsbury.com. All concerts are free of charge and there is lunch after each, with a collection taken to cover expenses.
