Shropshire Music Trust have announced details of the new 35th Anniversary Season, that includes everything from concerts by prestigious musicians, to premier opera by Mid Wales Opera. Concerts, Pop-up Opera, a Song Recital, and Lunchtime performances will take place at some superb venues across Shropshire. The Season begins on 12th October with an evening of Bach by Candlelight – where music lovers will be transported by music to lighten an autumn evening in the beautiful setting of Cound Church. The highly popular violinist, Zoë Beyers (associate leader of C.B.S.O and leader of E.S.O.) will perform three of Bach’s great and seminal works for solo violin.
Director of Shropshire Music Trust, Kate Hogwood said: “October will also see a dynamic and thrilling programme at St. Alkmund’s Church, Shrewsbury at 7.30pm on 27th October by the leading London Mozart Players, Britain’s longest-established chamber orchestra, who will be joined by young rising-star cellist, Jamal Aliyev. Before that, at 2pm there’s a special show to delight children and families with exciting stories set to music and allow them to be “up close and personal” with the string family of the orchestra. Then in November, the distinguished Collegium Musicum 90 will explore around one of the most famous and influential baroque composers in ‘The Corelli Phenomenon’.
The Season contains a whole host of events – and full information together with substantial discounts and special Saver Offers can be obtained on the Shropshire Music Trust’s website at www.shropshiremusictrust.co.uk
The November concerts feature String Beats (on 26th at the Lion Hotel, Shrewsbury) when beatboxer Dean Yhnell and Angharad Jenkins on violin and folk fiddle will delight a lunchtime audience with a mixture of hip-hop and folk music genres. Then the acclaimed Mid Wales Opera finish the month, with some fabulous live opera, ‘A Spanish Hour – Ravel’s L’heure espagnole’ at SpArC Theatre, Bishops Castle.
Finally prepare to be intoxicated on Friday 7th December when the legendary Ex Cathedra bring their iconic ‘Christmas by Candlelight’ –the traditional Shropshire Music Trust’s popular seasonal offering which introduces the festive season in what is now an annual treat. The venue is Shrewsbury’s civic church – St. Chad’s Church, Shrewsbury.
More information will be announced about the New Year and the superb range of performances…
