Moreton Hall’s international student Cara Puvogel is celebrating following the news that she is one of the highest performing students in the country to have achieved 100% in the Cambridge English Proficiency Test.
Sixth Form student Cara, from Chile, demonstrated she has mastered English to an exceptional level by scoring the highest possible grade in Reading and her Use of English test. The test is designed to test the user’s reading, use of language, writing, listening and speaking.
Cara, who has been a student at Moreton since 2021, is no stranger to success, having been selected for England Hockey’s Talent Academy, Stourport Hockey Club. The Talent Academies invite players, aged 15 to 18 years old, who are deemed to possess the highest potential. Players have access to high-quality coaching and training, and every Talent Academy has a squad of players that have been selected through a robust process. Cara is also Moreton’s first XI Hockey Captain.
Cara’s mother, Patricia, said: “Moreton Hall has been fundamental in Cara’s development, always pushing her to give her best and enjoy learning. She has been taught that there are no limits when you work hard and consistently.”
Cara also recently took part in the Cambridge Biology Challenge, and, out of thousands of entries, Cara and her team scored highly enough to put onto the national leaderboard. The Biology Challenge is a nationwide competition which challenges students to think deeply about the sort of questions Cambridge asks. They were invited to attend a ‘Celebration Day’ at Homerton College, Cambridge which further celebrates their achievements and gives them the opportunity to explore Homerton’s facilities.
During her three years at Moreton, Cara has made the most of opportunities afforded to her; an active member of the student-run business Moreton Enterprises and involved in the onsite shop, participating in the Rylands Diploma a life skills course designed for preparing students for life beyond Sixth Form, as well as becoming an Eco Team leader. More recently, Cara also became a Prefect and Deputy Head of Stables House, acting as a mentor and offering guidance to Year 7 and 8 pupils.
In a recent interview, Cara said: “I would recommend Moreton Hall to everyone as it’s very unique, it has activities which you wouldn’t find in other schools and has a very friendly and warm environment.”
Cara is about to commence her second year of A Level studies at Moreton Hall before embarking upon her future ambitions of a career in medicine. Cara is hoping to read medicine and continue her studies at one of the country’s top performing universities, Cambridge or Edinburgh.
