Arts Alive are delivering a dose of laughter in Whitchurch on August 7. The rural touring scheme, which facilities cultural events across Shropshire and Herefordshire, has booked Birmingham’s premier improv group – Box of Frogs – to deliver their high-octane improvised comedy for two shows at Dodington Lodge.
The comic group have no idea what will happen during the show, with the audience navigating the course of the performance.
Cerin Mills, Live Events Programmer for Arts Alive, said, “The events that unfold during the show are based entirely on the audience’s suggestions, so whether you have been lucky enough to see them before or not, it will be a unique show for all! We have two shows lined up on the day – one for a family audience in the afternoon and a show for the grown-ups in the evening.
“Expect the unexpected as these quick-witted improv stars conjure up hilarious spontaneous songs, sketches and scenes on the spur of the moment. Each performance is completely different – the only certainty is the comedic skill in action.”
The group will be performing entirely without a script to create a night of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ type comedy, with improvised songs, stories, and silliness.
A review from Love Midlands Theatre describe their show: “Improvised comedy group Box of Frogs warmly invite you to be part of their crazy, mischievous little family for one night. There is nothing that can prepare you for the evening ahead, even the members of the group have no idea what is going to happen after the audience is settled in. But the one thing that can be guaranteed is you’ll be laughing throughout.”
Box of Frogs Improv Comedy comes to Dodington Lodge on Saturday, August 7. There is a family show suitable for ages 7+ at 3pm, with tickets at £6 each. The main show is at 7:30pm and is suitable for ages 16+. Tickets for that show are £12 for adults and £8 for under 18’s.
