This summer’s Classic Ibiza at Weston Park on Saturday 18 July will be supporting a local charity that helps children and their families in Staffordshire and South Cheshire with life limiting illness.
The Donna Louise Hospice for Children & Young People provides a lifeline to hundreds of families who are facing every parent’s worst nightmare; the heart-breaking knowledge that they will almost certainly outlive their child.
Lisa Ward, organiser of Classic Ibiza, comments: “The Donna Louise is close to my heart. Following the death of my brother-in-law, my niece returned from the US and wanted to become a special care baby nurse. She applied to The Donna Louise, who provided her with invaluable experience in the field, and has ever-since then been a supporter of the charity.”
As Staffordshire’s only hospice for children and young people, they provide specialist care and support services for children with life-shortening conditions. The Donna Louise is funded almost entirely through charitable donations and fundraising. Each year they need to raise more than £3.5million to be able to offer care to children, young people and their families.
There will be various fundraising initiatives taking place on the evening, including a £1 donation from every programme sold, a recommended £5 donation from press and guest-list entries, as well as collection points at all onsite retailers and exit points. On-screen video and a Donna Louise marquee, where audience members can find out more about the work that they do, will also aid in raising the charity’s profile.
Jo Glover, Senior Relationship Manager at The Donna Louise comments: “With less than 10% of our funding coming from government sources, we rely hugely on charitable donations and events such as this to help raise the £3.6million needed each year to run our services. The money raised from this event will make a huge difference in helping us to continue providing vital services for local families, so we are hugely grateful to the team at Classic Ibiza for their incredible support – it’s going to be a great evening!”
Lisa Ward adds: “Giving something back to the local communities that host our concerts across the UK has always been important to us and our audience. Classic Ibiza is a concert for all the family, so it’s fitting that we will be working with The Donna Louise to help people and their loved ones living with life limiting illness in the region. The show is due to sell-out, so we hope to raise significant funds and boost awareness of this extremely worthy cause.”
Classic Ibiza begins with a ‘Chill-out DJ set’ performed by former Pacha Ibiza and Ministry of Sound London resident, Jose Luis. The Urban Soul Orchestra and vocalists then take to the stage with Goldierocks for the ‘Sundowner set,’ with tracks from Orbital, Paul van Dyk, Roger Sanchez and many more. The rhythm builds further during Goldierocks’ ‘House DJ set’, which is packed full of stone-cold dance anthems. The concert then reaches a crescendo during the ‘Dance set,’ when the orchestra and vocalists return to the stage as night falls and the grounds of Weston turn into an alfresco nightclub with accompanying lasers. Expect tracks from The Prodigy and The Shapeshifters, to Faithless and Underworld.
Programme: 6:00pm: Car parks and gates open; 6:30pm: ‘Chill-out DJ set’ (Jose Luis); 8:00pm: ‘Sundowner set’ (Urban Soul Orchestra and Goldierocks); 9:00pm: ‘House DJ set’ (Goldierocks); 9:30pm: ‘Dance set’ and laser light show (Urban Soul Orchestra and Goldierocks); 10:50pm: Concert finishes.
