Shropshire’s CJ Wildlife, Europe’s leading bird and wildlife supplier, provides thousands of viewers with live webcams on its websites across Europe, giving an insight into the feeding and nesting routines of birds and mammals of our gardens and countryside. From garden bird feeders to peregrine falcon nests, watering hole bathing to foxes at night – a 24/7 show to all who follow the ‘celebrity’ wildlife that frequently appear. A selection of these webcams is produced in partnership with WildlifeKate from her Staffordshire garden. CJ Wildlife provides these stations with the best quality feeding products and food, nest boxes and habitats to encourage wildlife into the garden for all to enjoy.
Following the success of the WildlifeKate’s Springwatch lounge inspired Mammal Cam, CJ Wildlife launched a national competition earlier this year to design a new mammal or bird feeding station to appear on the live cameras.
There were so many wonderful ideas and entries that it was extremely hard to choose. From swimming pool style birdbaths to haunted houses, ice-cream vans to school classrooms, the entries showed huge imagination and flair. When choosing the winner, the design was paramount, but consideration was also given to how the design could be reproduced. The themes of some of these entries may inspire webcam stations in the future.
The winner is Laura Jamieson from Skeld Primary School, in the Shetland Islands! Her wonderful ‘Tearoom’ design captured the imaginations of the judging team and will translate into a superb feeding station! The little tables and table cloths were a lovely touch. The teapots will look amazing and there was lots of scope to provide places for the birds to feed.
WildlifeKate was able to announce to Laura that she was the winner, when visiting Skeld Primary School on her recent trip to Shetland. The whole school (all 16 of them) were delighted to have a winner in their midst. Congratulations, to Laura, from all the team at CJ Wildlife and WildlifeKate.
The school and Laura received lots of CJ Wildlife goodies as a prize for them to use to attract wildlife in their lovely school grounds.
The new Tearoom feeding station is currently being worked on, so keep visiting www.birdfood.co.uk/cj-webcams over the coming months to see when it goes live.
