Two in-person launch events plus an online masterclass – helping businesses across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin discover one of the UK’s most prestigious business awards.

Businesses across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin are being invited to attend the launch of the 2027 King’s Awards for Enterprise. A free breakfast event, which is kindly being sponsored by Harper Adams, will take place on Tuesday 14 April from 8.30-10.30am at The Quad, Station Quarter, Telford, followed by an evening launch event on Monday 20 April from 5-6.30pm at Reech Media, Shrewsbury. A further online masterclass exploring the categories and application process in more detail will follow – date and time to be confirmed.

The event has been organised on behalf of the Shropshire Lieutenancy to ensure that businesses across the region are aware of – and feel encouraged to apply for – the King’s Awards for Enterprise, widely regarded as the UK’s most prestigious business awards.

The breakfast and evening launches will bring together businesses from across the county to hear more about the awards programme, the application process, and the significant benefits that come with winning. The events are open to businesses from across the Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Local Authority areas.

Award categories

The programme recognises outstanding business achievement across five categories:

  • International Trade
  • Sustainable Development
  • Promoting Opportunity
  • Young Founders
  • Innovation

Why apply?

Winning a King’s Award for Enterprise brings significant recognition and commercial value to a business. Benefits include national and global recognition, the right to use the official emblem, a boost to staff morale, access to new opportunities, and an invitation to a Royal Reception at Windsor Castle.
Applications for the 2027 King’s Awards for Enterprise will open in May and close in September, giving businesses several months to prepare and submit their entries. The launch event on 14 April is the ideal opportunity to learn what’s involved and begin preparing a strong application, and if that is too early for some, the evening launch event will cover the same content.

Speaking about the event, Mandy Thom MBE DL, on behalf of the Shropshire Lieutenancy said: “Don’t miss this exciting launch event and the chance to put your business on the map. Winning a King’s Award is a remarkable achievement that opens doors – we want to make sure businesses across Shropshire and Telford know about this opportunity and feel ready to apply.”

Businesses interested in attending are encouraged to register their interest as soon as possible.
